Here is a striking, rare pair of Art Deco rhinestone buckles dating to the 1920’s. Each buckle measures 2 ¼” wide by 2” high. They are both marked I.Miller on the back bar. Throughout the first three decades of the 20th century I.Miller was the premier shoe manufacturing company that grew to 228 stores across the country, the flagship store being the famous I'Miller building in New York City. Business boomed in the early 1900’s and I.Miller & Sons was soon dressing the feet of Broadway dancers, opera singers, silent film stars, and socialites with their glamorous and trend-setting heels and shoe accessories. Each clip has 14 large, square, bezel set rhinestones surrounded by multiple small stones. This creates a beautiful, raised, and reticulated Art Deco design with lots of dimension and sparkle from all angles. The buckles are in very good vintage condition with all original rhinestones that are bright and sparkly. I noticed some tiny nicks to a couple of the square stones, visible under magnification only, and being mentioned to be accurate. There are no very dark or cloudy stones even though some may appear that way in some of the photographs due to camera reflections. Included in the sale is the original satin and velvet lined storage box, marked Germany, that is in fair condition with lots of surface scratches from being handled and stored for so many years. This beautiful rare pair of shoe buckles would make a great addition to anyone’s collection, design project or bracelet creations.
