Here is a very rare Lico repousse Sterling two-piece belt buckle with an intricately tooled leather belt that was made in Mexico and is dated to the 1960’s. The buckle measures 6 ½” long (with the two halves clasped together) by 2 1/8” high. The leather belt is hand-crafted creating an intricate tooled design and measures 34” long and is riveted one of which has been replaced to each half of the belt buckle. The total size of the belt and buckle when clasped together is about 40 ½”. This very high-quality buckle was hand crafted by master Taxco Mexican Silversmith Lico who worked in for William Spratling and is signed Sterling Lico Mexico. His stunning repousse work on this huge two-part belt buckle has a strong sense of movement with multiple dimensional swirls creating a big bold unique design unlike anything you have seen. The buckle is in excellent vintage condition with no dents or heavy scratches only one very light scuff mark hardly noticeable being mentioned to be accurate. The leather belt is in very good vintage condition with some very light scuff marks hardly noticeable but also being mentioned to be accurate. This absolutely gorgeous belt and buckle is a very rare find and would make a great addition to anyone’s Mexican Sterling silver collection.
