Cypress Swamp – Serigraph by Ron Picou
"Cypress Swamp" is a limited edition Serigraph by artist Ron Picou. It is titled, signed and numbered 486/350 in pencil by the artist. Copyrighted: 1990 and is a closed edition.
Ron Picou is a southern artist by birth, training and artistic subject matter.
Birth: 1940 in New Orleans and raised there also.
Training: studied and graduated from John McCrady Art School in New Orleans.
Subject Matter: Ron Picou's art reflects themes that are characteristic or indigenous with New Orleans, Bourbon Street, The French Quarter or the rural areas and swamps surrounding New Orleans that the artist explored as a youngster; "Cypress Swamp" is an example of one of these.
This art work is a very evocative scene of the sun rising over the Spanish Moss ladened Cypress trees with a fisherman's boat in the middle ground making its way through the Cypress Swamp while 2 egrets in the foreground look on from the shallows. The photographs do not do this piece justice. It is not as dark as the pictures indicate.
Framed in golden oak, matted and ready to hang.
Gross dimensions: 42 5/8" x 29 ½" Viewing Area: 33" x 19 ¾"
