Up for your consideration is this Ladder Back Arm Chair 1790's. There is a carved back on top with 3 splats across below. Sides have a carved ring around the posts at back and front. Beautiful carved curved Arm with Curled end--Front legs extend through the arm. 2 round stretchers on front and sides of chair, Single round stretcher across back at bottom. Chair is put together with pegs only, no nails. Woven Seat of flat rushes needs to be redone. The Top of the back post on the Chair on the right has been restored, A Triangular shaped piece of wood has been filled into a Triangular piece. Chair shows wear across top at back of chair, it curves in across top and bottom from lifting the chair to move it over the years. All The Legs are worn down on the bottom from use, may have been cut down to even the bottom of the chair. Chair is wider at the back than the front. The Chair is made from various woods as most of these chairs were. This Chair has a wonderful Patina, beautiful color and shows wear where you would expect from a chair of this age--on arms, back of chair and bottom of legs. Chair Measures: Seat: 14 3/4" high from floor. Seat: 14" Deep Front 21" wide Back 15" wide. Shaped Arms: 15 3/4" Long. Arms 24" Wide at Front Back 14 1/2 Wide. This is a superb Early Arm Chair, is is a wonderful shape, with beautiful details on the back and front. The Splats and Bar across the back of the Chair are beautifully shaped. The Chair shows the proper amount of wear for a Chair of this age which was in constant use over the years. The Chair is in Great condition overall, very stable.
