This four room doll house circa 1890 made by the Dunham Manufacturing Company is a much sought after doll house and also very hard to find since it was actually the packaging crate for Dunham's Cocoanut and therefore often discarded. Dunham's Cocoanut was actually a baking product consisting of a shredded confection. A marketing genius at the company realized that the four compartments are actually the size of doll house rooms and if lined with beautiful lithography it could then be repurposed for a doll house. And he was right. The lithography is bright and very detailed creating rooms such as a bedroom, parlor, dining room and kitchen.

The bedroom features curtained windows, framed pictures and a floral area rug on a wooden floor. The parlor also features curtained windows along with a piano, portraits and ferns with a carpeted floor. The dining room features an aquarium filled with fish and a moose head along with a geometric area rug. Finally, in a whimsical tribute to the company the kitchen contains a cupboard filled with boxes of the Dunham's Cocoanut product. The sides of the doll house are imprinted with four windows and the top and bottom of the doll house state Dunham's Doll House. The doll house is in very good condition with some minor separation and loss of paper. There is an age crack in the back present in all of the crates since it was the place where wood planks were joined and also some water stains.
