German Doll House Gazebo and Fenced Area
It is springtime in the park. This wonderful garden scene is already in the making by the German firm "DRGM 553985" marked on the bottom. It consists of a white wooden platform which is enclosed by a white picket fence and a swinging garden gate. The platform is raised up on a 2" base with a fabulous gazebo at one end. The entrance to the gazebo has a trellis of paper flowers highlighted by bright coral blooms. Four sides of the gazebo have planters with potted flowers set inside. There are numerous potted plants on the fence posts and others are set in garden planters. An 11" bush is made of dried flowers. The top of the gazebo is covered with a candy-stripe cotton fabric. There is a green round felt "carpet" inside the gazebo. A working white wooden swing is attached to the platform base.
Included with this sale are six pieces of garden furniture, including a bench and five chairs, a birdhouse on a stand, and the potted plants. We are modeling our 7" Simon & Halbig and a small baby carriage to illustrate how they bring this scene to life, but they are not included in the sale. Made in Germany circa 1890 by the firm DRGM. There is some minor paint loss, a few loose and missing fence posts, and a slight dent to one point of the gazebo top - all of which are consistent with age but do not diminish its beauty. This is a magnificent piece next to a doll house since it is in traditional doll house scale. Overall it measures 10" wide X 27" long X 15" high.
