SIMON HALBIG 20" 1159 LADY DOLL – ANTIQUE GERMAN DOLL FROM AROUND 1894
This very pretty 1159 Simon Halbig lady doll measures 20 inches. The back of her head is incised 1159 – S & H- DEP – 7 – Germany.
She is on a composition ball jointed body that is in good condition. Note: there is some wear on chest area, may be due to fabric rubbing?
Her bisque head has no chips, cracks or hairlines. She does have pierced ears with a small chip in ear hole on left side. Her eyes are blue sleep and all eye paint is present. She has human hair lashes, and an open mouth.
Her sailor dress is a replica made from a pattern presented in a Doll Customer's Guild packet and is made of embroidered cotton and fine batiste cotton along with a silk scarf. It consists of a white jacket with glass shank buttons; fine white cotton fabric along with a blue belt held with a gold tone buckle. The main part of jacket is lined with muslin. The skirt is separate and consists of 6 individual panels and is completed lined as well. The silk neck scarf is presented around the collar for more color. I have presented her in two hats, one a blue antique bonnet and another of straw. The original silk dress had melted from age.
Her undergarments consist of a camisole, pantaloons and half slip. They are from original clothing. Her shoes may be original, the stockings have been replaced and are knitted of cotton thread.
Her light blonde wig is mohair, styled to meet fashion of that period. Upswept with upper top knot and fine curls around her head. The pate is replaced. Her coloring is mint without any rubs or scratches.
This is definitely a very pretty 1159 sample from Simon and Halbig.
