This stunning chocolate cup and saucer set was produced and decorated at the Jean Pouyat Factory in Limoges, France around the turn of the 19th century. This factory mark was used from 1891 to 1932 but the lavish roses and gold motif is pure Victorian. The cup is 2 7/8" tall (not including the tall handle) and 2 3/8" in diameter. The saucer is 4 3/4" in diameter and scalloped with ridges around the well. The rose border overlays a gold mesh net. Green leaf tendrils dip into the center of the well of the saucer and below the rose border on the cup. The scalloped gold trim on the rim and handle is lavish. We can not find an artist signature. Nonetheless, this is a statement piece of Victorian Limoges. The cup and saucer are in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs. There is a very slight wear line on the high point of the ridges of the saucer from stacking. This is very minor honest wear commensurate with age and does not seriously detract from the beauty of this set. The price is for one and you can buy up to the number remaining.
