This set of 12 magnificent, vintage, raised gold encrusted dinner plates was produced between 1923-1927. The Royal Doulton factory mark has the lion without the crown which was used during this period. Moreover, the plates have an impressed mark for 10-23 suggesting the blank was made in October of 1923. The Doulton pattern is E 8730. These plates also have the HB mark (HB 9012) indicating that they were decorated by Herbert Betteley one of Doulton's foremost artists. The plates are 10 1/4" in diameter and decorated with gold filigree and raised gold beading and impasto roses. The centers are white and the rims are a subtle, light cream colored porcelain. The foot of the plates are also trimmed with gold. These are world-class plates that make a statement. They were used sparingly if at all. There are no crack, chips, crazing, or utensil marks. The price is for the set of 12. The plates weigh 18 pounds and will be shipped via the USPS Priority Mail. We have been in business for 30 years. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
