This fabulous sugar bowl dates from 1985 and is a gorgeous reproduction, authorized by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, of a classic Chinese 18th export pattern called "Tobacco Leaf". It was produced by the Mottahedeh Company which is noted for its exacting reproductions of historic period porcelain. The design shows the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant upon which a small phoenix perches bearing a flowering twig in its beak. This exact reproduction requires twenty-eight colors including 22K gold and five firings to manufacture. This covered sugar is exquisite and was only used for display. It is in pristine condition. It is approximately 4 1/2" tall to the top of the finial. The colors are vibrant. It is marked on the reverse as shown. We have a other place and serving pieces in our shop right now too. We are offering free shipping for our continental U.S. buyers. Shipping and insurance for others will vary by location. We have been matching fine tableware
