John Polhamus patented the Diamond pattern around 1860. This particular spoon was sold by the Ford & Tupper retailers active in New York City from 1867-1874. Their name is on the reverse. It is also marked sterling as well as "JP Patent 837" for John Polhamus who registered this design with patent 837. It is monogrammed on the front with entwined script letters.
