These sterling tongs are hallmarked with the Georgian head, lion sterling standard, and A for 1796 as shown. They also have the PB over AB hallmark for Peter and Ann Bateman. This mark was only used from 1791 to 1799. We were not able to adequately photograph the PB/AB mark but guarantee it to be accurate. There is a S.H. monogram on top of the tongs. These tongs are 5 1/2" long and in excellent condition overall. We note a very slight indent, probably from years of use, from where the right thumb presses. Note, they have not been completely polished. We are offering free shipping for our U.S. clients. Shipping and insurance for others will vary by location. Please e-mail us if you have any additional questions about these tongs that were made by one of the famous English silversmith families.
