This small glass sculpture of monkey is from a series of small crystal animals known as hand coolers. During the Victorian era, so the story goes, woman would hold similar crystal or porcelain object to keep their hands from perspiring. The monkey hand cooler is only 2 5/8" tall. It is product number 5526 and shown on page 366 of the revised Steuben reference book by Madigan. It was designed by Lloyd Atkins in 1992. It is signed Steuben on the bottom as shown. The hand cooler is preowned and in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, or repairs. It has a wonderful glow typical of fine Steuben crystal. We do not have the original box or bag. We have over 50 Steuben figurines and other pieces of Steuben in our shop including fine Carder era green stemware. We have been in business for 30 years. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
