Whiting patented the Louis XV pattern in 1891. It remains a highly collectible pattern. These sandwich tongs are the most unusual serving piece that we have ever offered for sale in this pattern and they would make a wonderful addition to a Louis XV collection. The tongs are approximately 5 3/4" long and feature splayed tined fork ends. The tongs are all original and not a fabricated piece. They were designed for serving delicate tea sandwiches. The tongs are in excellent condition with no dings, dents, or repairs. They have never been monogrammed. They are marked with the Lion W hallmark, Sterling, and pat 1891.
