This charger is a superb example of noted Pickard artist Harry Tolley's artistic skill. This particular pattern was supposedly his specialty. He was employed by Pickard during the years 1903-12. Tolley's artwork was considered top quality, This charger has a scalloped rim and is approximately 12 1/4" in diameter. It is lavishly decorated with gold-outlined poinsettias, leaves, and tendrils. The gold rectangles under the blossoms give the illusion that they are the trunks of trees. The charger has a very Arts & Crafts aesthetic. It is signed H Tolley on the body of the charger near one of the leaves as shown. The blank was made by Charles Ahrenfeldt Limoges (CA) and has the Pickard studio marks. The charger is is outstanding condition. There are no cracks, chips, or repairs. There is only the slightest gold rubs and utensil marks on the five gold rectangles in the center of the plate (see photo).
