This stunning soup ladle was manufactured by J.E. Caldwell circa 1870. The handle is hammered and overlayed at the end with intricate engraved and bright-cut flowers and leaves. The bowl is fluted and scalloped. The ladle is approximately 11" long. The bowl is approximately 3 1/2" x 3 1/2". It is in excellent condition with no dings, dents, or repairs. It has never been monogrammed. It is marked Sterling and J.E. Caldwell on the reverse as shown. This is a fine quality, statement piece by one of Philadelphia's premier 19th century silversmiths.
