This gorgeous, very slightly greenish-blue natural turquoise graduated bead necklace is perfectly proportioned, and it really sets off a summer tan!
The necklace measures 17 1/2" long. The beads start at 6.39 mm and the largest is 10.95 mm. The average size of most of the beads is 7.5 mm. They are all in excellent condition with tiny bits of matrix still showing to assure us of their natural origins. The weight of this necklace is a substantial but comfortable 38.7 grams.
The 14K clasp is marked and works perfectly. The entire necklace has just been restrung and is ready to wear and enjoy. It is not easy to find nice, genuine turquoise anymore, and this necklace, dating from about 1950-1970, is still very much in fashion.
The blue-green color of turquoise historically symbolizes water and sky, fruitful harvests, health and protection. This gemstone has been revered since ancient times in cultures ranging from Persia, ancient Egypt, Tibet and the American Southwest, and it was worn for the hope of security and beauty.
