Spectacular, at 38.68 carats, this genuine Art Deco ring is rare and wonderful. The sapphire measures 16.95 mm by 15.28 mm, and it contains a clear 6 pointed star. This is clearly a ring for the brave and the bold!
The gray-blue sapphire is accented by 4 marquis diamonds estimated at .07 ct. each, plus 10 single cut diamonds estimated to weigh .03 ct. each. The total estimated diamond weight is .58 carats.
The ring is unmarked but tests positive for platinum. What makes this ring special is the clear evidence of no treatments by the defined crystal structure of natural corundum, as seen on the underside of the sapphire. There are several natural inclusions, such as some iron staining and a crystal, that may be seen from the top of the ring. They are much more pronounced in the close up pictures than when the ring is worn.
The ring has small platinum balls inside the shank to keep it from slipping sideways. It fits a ring size 6.25. The entire ring weighs 15.3 grams.
