American made and signed by the William Link Company in Newark, NJ, this very fine Edwardian pendant features Montana sapphires and natural seed pearls in a charming floral design. This was one of the finest periods of jewelry manufacturing in Newark, and Montana sapphires were widely used after their discovery in 1895. Favored for their bright steely blue color, sometimes with a purplish tint, they are usually very free from inclusions. The tiny seed pearls perfectly complement the piece, and all gemstones are in excellent original condition.
The 14K gold pendant measures 1 1/4" in diameter and hangs 1 1/2" with the gold bale. The Old European cut sapphires are 3 mm in size. The 9 ct gold chain is of the period but but original to it, and it looks very appropriate. With the 18 1/2" long chain, the entire piece weighs 8.5 grams.
