Emanating from an elite family of Zuni silversmiths, we have this absolutely mesmerizing gemstone inlay ring courtesy of the renowned husband and wife team of Albert and Dolly Banteah. (According to the Kennedy Museum of Art, Dolly is the daughter of the preeminent Zuni silversmith Jack Haloo and sister of Nancy Lasconsello. Jack Haloo taught both of his daughters, Dolly and Nancy, the overlay inlay technique, which they have employed in their own works since the 1970s. For numerous years, Dolly has worked with her husband, Albert, to create impeccable works of art in jewelry with Albert designing the pieces and Dolly finishing the pieces with stone inlay and etching. Their signature hallmark reads AD Banteah. It is our understanding that the Banteahs are no longer producing jewelry.) With adroit utilization of a vibrant and penetrating red precious coral juxtaposed with luminous mother of pearl and matrixed robin’s egg blue turquoise, we have a brilliantly captivating depiction of a cardinal perched on a leafed branch. A truly impeccably constructed, singularly stunning work of art possessing a visual aesthetic that is second-to-none. A definitive museum quality collector’s piece for those who appreciate jewelry that reflects both their individuality and supreme sense of style. In Native American culture, the cardinal symbolizes self awareness and value. One who is guided by the cardinal totem is said to have courage, persistence, and creativity.
