1955 Ninette Wardrobe - 8 inch Ginny and Ginger Competitor by Michele Cartier, Fortune
This offering is for a collection of clothing and accessory items for the 8 inch hard plastic Ninette doll from 1955. As stated in the book, Small Dolls of the 40's & 50's by Carol Stover, "Ninette used first quality Ginger dolls with nice coloring and well-made costumes." Her outfits were "designed exclusively for her by the famous fashion designer, Michele Cartier, Paris, New York." The outfits in this collection are Skating Outfit 13/18; Tea Party Dress 13/3; Blue and Gold dress (number unknown) but illustrated in the 1955 Ward's Catalogue; and Floral Dress (unknown number) but I'm nearly certain it is an original Ninette fashion based on its construction, gold trim and nearly identical hair bow.
The items are in good to very good condition with issues listed below. All snaps are firmly attached and unless noted below there are no rips, tears or stains. The floral dress is creased from storage but is crunchy crisp. The two boxed outfits are complete but I am not sure what additional accessories were included with the other two outfits other than shoes and hair bows.
Condition issues: The blue skates have wear and shedding to the material and there is a split near the toe of one boot The metal skates have become detached. The black and white dress has a single line run on the bodice and the lace sleeve cuff of the blue dress (not laundered but the fabric has a played-with appearance) has opened as illustrated.
This wardrobe will fit other similar sized dolls of the 1950's such as Ginny, Ginger, Muffie and others.
Please note the shipping listed is for Priority Mail but I may be able to package the items (safely and securely) and keep the weight to 13 ounces so that First Class Mail can be an option.
