This remarkable vintage necklace features 63 oval translucent and opaque beads in shades of egg yolk or butterscotch (honey), some with mottling. The beads are nicely graduated from ¼” to ¾” in length. The necklace measures a generous 27 ½” and weighs 38 grams. There is a barrel clasp that works well. The beads test positive for amber; they readily raise fine pieces of straw and the necklace floats in water. GIA testing revealed the beads are genuine Copal, a resin that is a mere thousands of years old, rather than millions of years old as amber beads would be. The piece is in good condition with no eye visible damage and the silk cord is secure. Amber/Copal bead necklaces like this one were extremely popular from 1890 through the 1920s and were considered an investment! You are certain to enjoy this wonderful heirloom. The GIA certification is included with the purchase.
Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: honey; butterscotch, Size: 27 1/2 "
