A remarkable, aquatint, etching entitled, "Trees And Roofs No. 3," by famed Japanese artist, Ryohei Tanaka (1933-2019) artist signed and dated 1986. The etching depicts a peaceful, tranquil village scene in a rural Japanese village. The workmanship has fine detail and intricate patterns. In 1933, the artist, Ryohei, was born in Takatuski City, which is located in Osaka, Japan. He studied under Professor Furuno in 1963. He started to exhibit with The Japanese Print Society in 1966. His work is concentrated in rural Japanese village scenes, landscapes, roof tops and thatched farmhouses. The wood frame measures approx. 17" length and 13" height. The approx. image size is 5" length and 3 3/4" height. It is under glass. In the lower hand corner, it is pencil signed by the artist,, including 86' 150/150. Under the mat board, it has Japanese calligraphy in pencil which reads, "Trees and roofs no. 3 ." On the back, it has a paper label that reads," Kiku Sui Gallery 101 Charles Street, Boston Ryohei Tanaka (1933- ) Trees and Roofs #3 Dated: 1986 Edition 150/150 Etching: Aquatint." The condition of this item is very good. His work is considered to be highly collectible. He is very popular as a contemporary Japanese artist. The artist has collections in major museums and galleries around the world.
