A lovely pair of black onyx and seed pearl earrings dating to the 19th Century. The round shaped mourning earrings have a small leaf design with a seed pearl in the very center. The colors of black, gold and white are quite beautiful. The earrings date to the 1870's or 1880's, when black jewelry was very sought after during the Victorian Era, having to do with Queen Victoria of England. It was during this period that mourning jewelry became popular. The earrings are the pierced type and are gold plated. Each earrings measures approx. 1" length, including the top of the wire and 5/8" width. Weight 2.9 grams. The condition of this item is very good, with only minimal wear and there is only one gold wire that is slightly bent, but works perfectly fine.
