This breathtaking necklace is by Aldrich Arts. This is a very rare piece and it was completely handmade and hand carved from natural gemstones. Valerie and Benny Aldrich's painstaking attention to quality and detail results in very few pieces being made. The beautifully colored beads are natural gemstones including spiny oyster, natural sugilite, lapis and natural green turquoise. There are many beautiful inlaid gemstone beads with intricate patterns on this necklace. Valerie Aldrich is a master of design and color and makes each of these beads by hand, one at a time. The carved beads are done in traditional Native American animal fetish shapes and some stylized shapes. There is a fabulous stylized carved lapis moose, a green turquoise frog and a lapis bird. Each of these was hand carved by Valerie Aldrich. There are several rare sugilite gemstone beads including the largest bead on he necklace measuring 22mm x 17.5mm. Finishing out the necklace are colorful gemstone heishi style beads. The necklace has a sterling silver, box style, inlaid clasp signed Aldrich Arts. The beads are strung on sterling silver chain and the necklace is 27" long. The green turquoise is consistent with that from Carico Lake mine in Nevada. This is an older Aldrich piece c1990. The necklace is in mint condition and completely mesmerizing in person.
