This is a late Art Deco period Chinese export necklace. It has some wonderful components. The stunning red beads are carnelian. The carnelian beads are classic Chinese carved knucklebone style and rounds. The pendant is a Qing Dynasty devil's work wedding basket carved from Hetian jade. The pendant dates to the late 1800s. There are enamel on gilded silver beads accenting the carnelian beads. The silver beads have a lovely patina and they are enameled with purple and blue flowers and blue enameled end caps. The pendant has 3 enameled chain dangles hanging from the bottom. The pendant assembly hangs about 4-1/4" from the necklace. The necklace is 26" long with a gilded silver filigree clasp. Beautiful on, the unique combination of carving and colors make this a stand out piece.
