This is a beautiful necklace made out of 3 pairs of traditional jocklas. The striking colors and strong visual contrast make this a really special necklace. This necklace is consistent with the style of jockla made by the Santa Domingo. The white beads are clam shell and the "corn" beads are turquoise. The beads found at the center of a jockla are referred to as "corn". The black beads are jet and the red accents are glass and imitation coral. The necklace is finished in the traditional style. There is no clasp; you tie the waxed cord and you can adjust the length. The widest clam shell heishi measures 10mm. The corn beads are 16mm. The necklace is long but can be adjusted longer or shorter with the cord. The wearable beaded part measures 20" plus an additional 20"of cord. The jocklas at the bottom hang 5". c1975. This necklace has a summertime look with the beautiful white and red beads. Beautiful southwestern style.
