This precious little doll measures 16 1/2" tall and was made by the German firm of Simon & Halbig c. 1879. Her mold number is 719, the earliest numbered mold made by that firm. She has a perfect bisque head with a bald dome with 1 large and 4 small stringing holes, pierced ears, original gorgeous spiral blue paperweight eyes, lovely blushing, a little chin dimple, and a closed mouth with a dark line between the lips, not to mention a darling overbite. She is on her original straight-wristed 9 piece composition body that has had some work at the joints and a foot reglue but is in otherwise good shape with only normal wear.
She wears a very old purple dress with cartridge pleating at the waist, a purple velvet sewn-in vest and blue velvet at the wrist bands; it fastens up the back with 3 hook and eyes. It looks to have been all hand sewn and is very faded in front; it may be as old as she is. Underneath the dress are a sweet gauzy slip and pantaloons and she wears old leather lavender shoes with old socks. She has darling little hoop earrings, her original blond short wig, and a hat I found her that looks very cute.
This shy little girl rivals the French dolls in loveliness; she is really a pleasure to look at. Layaway available.
