This sweet little doll was made by the Etienne Denamur company in the 1880s and is marked E4D Depose on the back of her neck. She measures about 12 1/2" tall and is on her original 9 piece French composition body. She has a perfect bisque head with no damages, hairlines or repairs, save for some miniscule nips around the rim, and some equally tiny ear chips. Her mouth is closed, eyes are blue paperweight, and ears are pierced with little amethyst earrings that might be original. She has her original cork pate. Her painting is just lovely.
I made her dress from aqua faille trimmed with lots of vintage lace and with ruffles of broderie anglaise at the bottom front. Underneath she wears a full slip and pantaloons; on her feet are aqua socks, not old, and antique shoes one of which has been repaired. Her blond wig is not original but is very old and lovely. I made her fetching bonnet from old lace and ribbons. She is a real delight to look at.
