Rare set of 2 matched sterling and parcel gilt dessert spoons in the figural Calla Lily pattern by Whiting, circa 1875. Reverse has only Sterling stamp, but this is definitely a pattern identified as made by Whiting in the mid 19th century. This lovely set of 3-dimensional dessert spoons has a beautiful gilt satin finish on the front bowl, the handle and the lily finial; the bowl front also has an attractive engraved floral motif. Bowl reverse is smooth (the stripe in the pics on the bowl backs is tag residue and will be removed prior to shipping) Each spoon measures 6 1/4 inches and the set of 2 spoons weighs 48 grams/1.54 oz troy. Condition is excellent-no bends, dents or dings-small amount of tarnish to a few areas of the satin finish, otherwise no issues. Good amount of gilding remains on both spoons. A rare and desirable figural 19th century pattern -please see our other listing for an ice cream slice in this same wonderful pattern. Price is for the pair.
