Lovely Antique Sterling Silver Napkin Ring made by the well known San Francisco, California firm of Geo. C. Shreve & Co. circa 1880's. Shreve's silversmith firm was started in San Francisco in 1852 by Shreve and his brother Samuel. George Shreve went through various partnerships, but the firm continued to remain a California institution until the 1960's. This beautiful napkin ring is larger, measuring 2" tall, and is 1 3/4" in diameter. Weight is 42 grams. The borders depict a detailed shell and scroll motif, common for the 1880's and 1890's. Script lettering/monogram appears to be RJT. Interior has the stamp for George C. Shreve & Co. and Sterling. This napkin ring is in excellent condition, with original warm patina. One very tiny pin-tip sized ding to backside visible only upon close inspection. This would make a great addition to collectors of California Sterling Silver, Shreve items or collectors of napkin rings.
