Description: This incredibly beautiful gouache on paper painting was created in 19th century France and used in the development of a woven Aubusson carpet, chair or sofa. The design features a gorgeous bouquet of roses, tulips and and other flowers and leaves surrounded by a wreath comprised of stems of lilacs. The colors include tones of green, olive, brown, tan, lilac, red, pink, dusty rose, lavender, aqua, blue, beige and cream.
The entire piece with the paper mount measures 51 inches in width by 28 1/2 inches in length. The painting measures 40 3/4 inches in width by 22 1/2 inches in length.
This painting would be absolutely beautiful framed!
Condition: This is an antique painting. There is a vertical fold/crease down the center along with scratches in the paint. There are creases and scratches along the bottom of the painting throughout, also in some of the flowers. There are smudge-like marks here and there along the inside of the lilac border. There is surface dirt here and there and a small spot in the upper right area near the top edge. The white paper mount has many creases and surface dirt.
