Presented here is a RARE medal of the Lady of Coromoto dating from the 1930's period.
The medal is hand painted on porcelain, then Kiln fired, Enameled and inserted in a 10 k gold frame at a later date.
It is two sided : on the obverse Our Lady of Coromoto and on the reverse writte : Nuestra Senora de Coromoto - Our Lady of Coromoto
Our Lady of Coromoto (Spanish: Nuestra Señora de Coromoto), also known as the Virgin of Coromoto (Spanish: Virgen de Coromoto), is a celebrated Catholic image of an apparition of the Virgin Mary beleived to have taken place in 1651 to an Indian Chief. In 1942, she was declared the Patroness of Venezuela.
The medal is in pristine condition and it is sold WITH the chain in the picture. The chain is in Gold plated Sterling Silver and is new. The chain is 2.33 gr in weight and 50 cm ( 20 in.) in length.
The frame is in 10 K. Gold and is gold content has been tested. The bail is Vermeil, like the chain.
It is a very fine, highly rare and extremely nice item to wear.
Diameter of the medal is 15 mm ( 0.6 in.) excluding bail - weight of the medal alone is 1.86 grams
