Presented here is a very remarkable Gold plated Very Large pendant medal of Mary with Jesus in profile very likely inspired by works of the famous engraver Penin . The pendant probably dating from the 1930's with rare and unique features as follows :
a) It has a diameter of 43 mm ( without bail ) which is quite a large size for a round medal. Please look at picture when held in hand.
b) Its weight is a heavy 33 grams. It is in Pristine condition.
c) it is sold together with the 53 cm - 21 in. special chain. The chain is also vintage and dating to the 1920/1930 period. It is gold rolled and in New condition.
d) The pendant is made using the “Plique-à-jour” technique : Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel.
e) The pendant is high relief and made in France by A Augis, as it is signed.
Pictures have been taken so that the beautiful Plique-à-jour effect is well seen.
Deep blue color of enamel is well apparent apparent.
