Offering an antique Victorian locket that has been professionally engraved with a different design on both front and back! The front design depicts a cornucopia holding fruit and roses, the Victorian's symbol of abundance. Please get a closer look, yes, there are perfect little pineapples among the fruits in the cornucopia! I can't help but think that this was a custom made unique design. The back shows beautiful engravings resembling either feathers, flames, or flowers, (not quite sure!) held together with one of the Victorian's favorite themes, straps and buckles. At over 100 years old, this locket is in perfect condition. There are no maker's marks, no dings, no repairs. The swivel bail is ample enough for your favorite chain. The locket has a sturdy hinge and is easy to open and close. It shuts with a satisfying click and stays shut. Upon taking these pictures a darling tiny monogram was found on the back of the locket, initials RM or MR. The professional monogram is the style of superimposed letters and is found at center towards the bottom of the back of the locket in frame #2.
The locket weighs a sturdy 10.7 grams. The locket measures 1.5 inches X 1.25 inches not including the ample swivel bail. The best indicator of true color are the lockets in hand in frames #3 and #4. See the final picture with the locket on a beautiful 14 Karat hand made chain that will be sold on another listing.
