Offering an antique Victorian hardstone cameo brooch / pendant made with pearls and 18 karat yellow gold. The cameo is in perfect condition, no cracks or chips. The hinged bail swivels down behind the brooch when not in use. The clasp is a bugle shape and fully covers the point of the pin which keeps it from snagging on clothing or skin when the piece is being worn as a pendant. The cameo is decorated with fine cannetille work and bezel set pearls. The pearls are probably natural as they are from the 1800's. They are white and in perfect condition as they are decoratively bezel set quite high against the pearls. The sweet young woman was carved in profile wearing a hat decorated with roses and ribbon streamers. She wears her lovely curls down around her face rather than the upswept style of a woman who has reached maturity. She is wearing a dress adorned with a flower and her jewelry is a quite well defined pair of long dangle earrings of the period.
The piece weighs a sturdy 15.7 grams and measures 2" tall X 1.25" wide. It is wonderful to see a hardstone cameo in such marvelous condition with such detail. Please ignore the caught thread on the reverse shot. It is not a crack! Please ask all questions prior to placing an order. Thanks~
