Victorian 14k Gold, Pearl & Onyx Mourning Pendant Lily of the Valley Flower
A striking and elegant mourning pendant from the Victorian era circa 1870's-80's. The body is a high polished onyx stone. Carved with gentle curved edges and adorned with a floral motif. Both bail and flowers are made of 14k gold. Tested to insure the purity of the gold. The flowers depicted are Lily of the Valley. In the Victorian times they represented "returned happiness". Decorated with seed pearls which represented "tears" in jewelry of this fashion. Lovely raised work done by a skilled craftsman. Pendants size is 1 6/8 inches long by 1 2/8 inches wide. In good condition this piece is ready to wear and enjoy! There is a small fleabite to rim below the flowers. Also the back at one point had a glass panel. That is no longer present as you can see the groove where it once fit on the back. Not seen when worn and does not detract from this beauty. Please ask all questions prior to pacing an order! Thanks~
