This water jug or carafe is made of heavy super clear pressed glass. It was not designed to have a stopper. It is 8 inches tall and has a 2 inch opening. The base is 5 inches across and has a pontil on the bottom. The last photo shows the pontil mark. The pattern features diamonds and 6 pronged fans. The neck is fluted with long thumbprints at the bottom. The closeup photo of the neck shows just how thick this glass is.
There are no chips or cracks in this beautiful piece and there is no residue anywhere in the glass. Many times a water jug will have residue in the bottom. As you can see in the photos, this one is very clean. The glass is very clear with no discoloration due to age. The piece has been black light tested and fluoresces under the UV. This is a stunning piece of pressed glass from the early 1900s in superb condition.
This piece makes a stunning flower vase if you are not interested in a water or wine carafe.
