The Alaric pattern was made in the 1880s. The dish with the pedestal base is actually the bottom to a mustard jar. It is 2.25 inches tall and 2-7/8 inches across. The dish was made by Bryce Higbee & Co. and features the Alaric or Butterfly Ears pattern. The pattern was made in an extended table service. I have paired this piece with a salt shovel. I believe it would work quite well as a master salt.
There is some roughness around the top rim, but it can be felt more than seen without a magnifying glass. The base has a recessed 12 petal floral design. The salt shovel is made of glass as well and is in good condition.
The piece has been black light tested and fluoresces under the UV.
