Perforated Paper motto stitching was an integral part of Victorian life. Usually Bible verses or mottoes that were intended to inspire and promote what were considered proper thoughts and behavior. This punch paper needlework phrase is biblical yet unusual.
"Work Out Your Own Salvation" (from Paul in Philippians 2:12 )
It is under glass in the common-for-the-era rustic frame with crossed corners and wood leaves, sometimes referred to as "Adirondack" style.
The paper sampler is 8 1/2" x 21". With the frame the sampler measures 26 1/2" x 14".
There is a crack in the wood by the edge of the leaf along the bottom as shown in photo. It is difficult to photograph an item under glass so you will see glare spots, some reflections, etc in my photos. There is a light moisture stain along the top of the sampler.
