This outstanding Fenton Art Glass Burmese Praying Angel features a hand painted design of daisies with a tiny ladybug on a stem with leaves. She has a halo of metallic gold. The Praying Angel mould has been a very popular Fenton figurine since it was introduced.
This angel is a limited edition of 700, and it is retired. The artist is D. Robinson, and she has signed the bottom.
Burmese glass is one of the more popular treatments that Fenton made & the collectors really search it out. Burmese is a heat sensitive glass, containing real gold, and careful reheating coaxes the delicate pink shading around the middle portion into being. The creamy yellow color comes from a small amount of depleted uranium in the glass batch.
This lovely example of art glass is referenced in "Fenton Art Glass: A Centennial of Glass Making 1907-2007 and Beyond", 2nd Edition, by Debbie and Randy Coe.
This beautiful angel is in perfect condition, no chips or cracks, first quality glass, from the inventory of a closed store. The oval silver Fenton sticker is attached to the side. It has never been displayed, and will come in the original Fenton Glass box.
