Here is a rare set of two figurines by Harbour Lights that were the first releases in their "Days Gone By" Series. This series honors the heritage of individuals who have touched the lives of others. These two figurines are called "Keeper's Chores" and "Flying Santa 1929", and they are a matched set ... both are numbered #111. These two were introduced in 1999 and retired in 2000.

The story behind the Flying Santa is that in 1929, off the Maine coast, a desperate pilot, low on fuel, lost his way along the shore. He recognized the light from Dice Head lighthouse. Following the bright beacons of six other lighthouses, he found his way home. A few days later the grateful pilot dropped Christmas presents from his floatplane onto the grounds of the the six lighthouses.

The lighthouse keeper is in perfect condition, but the pilot has had some repairs done to him. These repairs are barely noticeable and only from the lower backside. On the bottom of each there is information about the series and hand numbered. Because of the repairs, we have reduced the original price.

Harbour Lights was once the largest maker of collectible miniature lighthouses and their accessories, and their sculptures were the best of all. Every detail was in place and the quality evident in each figure. The company went out of business in 2012. Harbour Lights sculptures are highly collected; these two figurines are featured in "The Official Collectors Guide to Harbour Lights" by John Chidester.
