Here is a very large and heavy vase, and absolutely stunning in color and presence! Glass collectors will recognize the pattern as that of "American" which originated from Fostoria Glass many decades ago. However, this gorgeous vase was made by Fenton Art Glass.
In the 1990s the company that owned the Fostoria Glass moulds closed and many moulds were put up for auction. Fenton Art Glass purchased many moulds at this time, and some of those were of the "American" pattern. During the time that Fostoria was making the American pattern, they did not make Ruby in this pattern. From 1986 to 1998, the Dalzell-Viking glass company made some American items in Ruby, but the color was different than the Fenton Ruby vase presented here.
This Ruby vase was made by Fenton Glass about 2009 and it was retired within a few months. The size and weight made it a more difficult item to make, and it has become a rather hard to find vase. Be sure to make notice of the measurements; the top rim projects out and needs space around it. The Ruby color is outstanding, and this vase would be a standout in any room in the home.
The Fenton mark of a "F" in an oval is found on the bottom, but is very difficult to photograph. The silver Fenton sticker is attached, and the vase will come in the original Fenton box.
This beautiful vase is in perfect condition, no chips or cracks, first quality glass, from the inventory of a closed store. This lovely example of art glass is referenced in "Fenton Art Glass: A Centennial of Glass Making 1907-2007 and Beyond", 2nd Edition, by Debbie and Randy Coe.
