This beautiful Fenton Art Glass Praying Angel figurine is crafted in luscious Burmese glass. The hand painted design features daisies with a tiny ladybug on a stem of leaves. The angel's halo is painted metallic gold. The artist is D. Robinson, and she has signed the bottom.
The Praying Angel mould has been a very popular Fenton figurine since it was introduced. This Burmese Angel is a limited edition of 700, and was retired within a few months of release.
Burmese glass is one of the more popular treatments that Fenton made and the collectors really search it out. Burmese is a heat sensitive glass, containing real gold, and careful reheating coaxes the delicate pink shading around the middle portion into being. The creamy yellow color comes from a small amount of depleted uranium in the glass batch.
This lovely example of art glass is referenced in "Fenton Art Glass: A Centennial of Glass Making 1907-2007 and Beyond", 2nd Edition, by Debbie and Randy Coe.
This beautiful angel is in perfect condition, no chips or cracks, first quality glass, from the inventory of a closed store. The oval silver Fenton sticker is attached to the side. It has never been displayed, and will come in the original Fenton Glass box.
