This outstanding Fenton Art Glass Burmese vase is called "Nautilus", and was made as a tribute to Frank Fenton, son of the founder of the company. This vase was introduced in Spring 2006 as part of the highly respected Connoisseur Collection and was retired by that summer. The hand painting features shells, seaweed, and a seahorse, and parts of the design are accented with sparkling glitter.

This is the first vase that Fenton made using this shell shaped mould. The mould originated with Cambridge Glass in the 1920s, and later was sold to Imperial Glass. When Imperial closed in the early 1980s, Frank Fenton purchased this mould along with others, for future use. This mould had not been used before, so it is a fitting tribute to Mr. Fenton who passed away in 2005. The vases made by the other companies with this mould had the top cut flat across, but Fenton has cut the top at an angle to give a more shell-like appearance.

The painting on the vase is designed by Fenton Designer, Stacy Williams, and is signed on the bottom by its artist, M. Cronin. The vase is a limited edition and is hand-numbered - this one is #120 out of 1950 produced. The bottom also features a special stamp designating this vase as a Frank Fenton Memorial item. This is a very impressive vase, sized at 7.5 inches high.

Burmese is a heat sensitive glass, containing real gold, and careful reheating coaxes the delicate pink shading into being. The creamy yellow color comes from a small amount of depleted uranium in the glass batch. Burmese is one of the most popular color treatments that Fenton ever made.

This lovely example of art glass is featured in "Fenton Art Glass: A Centennial of Glass Making 1907-2007" by Debbie and Randy Coe, on page 180.

This beautiful vase is in perfect condition, no chips or cracks, first quality glass, from the inventory of a closed store. The silver Fenton sticker is attached to the side. It has never been displayed, and will come in the original Fenton Glass box. This is a very heavy vase, and we will pack safely.

Don't miss this opportunity to add a very unique piece of Fenton Glass to your collection.
