This substantial gold plated shield pin with high quality enamel work has a great appeal. The crest has dark red enamel background and a Lion with wings plus a french blue enamel with a fleur de lys designed smaller crest. The inscription is Via Crucis meaning "Way of the Cross" and Via Iucis meaning Stations of the Resurrection. There also is fine red enamel on each top corner added to a leaf design. The gold plated trim has a ribbon effect around the edges of the crest.
The pin in the back goes is missing the roll over closure. The plated finish shows some wear. I can't determine if there is paint or gold finish worn off in one area above the lions head.
The enamel is in excellent condition.
The measurements are 1 1/4 inches by 1 1/4 inches.
