The Breton peasant design so often associated with Quimper were first made in the 1860s. These four wonderful cups and saucers are signed HR Quimper either on the front or back of the piece.
The heart shape of the cups and the saucers is so endearing decorated in a traditional palette depicting the Breton lady holding a bouquet of flowers and the gentleman in profile. Two saucers are painted with the point of the heart facing up.
The size of the cups being from tip to handle is 4 5/8 inches by 3 1/4 inches across by 1 5/8 inches deep. There are a few nips in the saucers and some manufacturers flaws detected in both cups and saucers so I have priced them accordingly. Given the age they are in very good vintage conditions.
These eight pieces are all marked HR Quimper ca.1900. I purchased them many years ago from a wonderful estate with many items from HR Quimper. I have enjoyed looking at them every day but I am downsizing.
