This stunning sterling silver box was made in Birmingham, England. The mark dates this piece to 1902. The shape of the box is elongated oval with an elegant rope design around the rim of the hinged lid. As far as the use, it may have been use to hold snuff, tobacco, jewelry, coins; or a myriad of other items.
There are 2 shallow dents on the top that do not distract from the beauty of this piece but are mentioned for accuracy. This box is in good condition otherwise, showing only normal wear on the interior. This attractive box measures 4" in length x 1 1/7 inches in width x 7/8 high and weighs 50.20 grams.
For the collector of fine antique or vintage English sterling pieces, this is a lovely find and I am pleased to offer it for your consideration.
