The Victorians had silver flatware pieces for all types of food. The Sugar Sifter was used to sift powdered sugar on berries or cake. It could also be used to serve berries.
This is a stunning 5 3/4” long sterling silver Sugar Sifter or slotted Ladle in the ornate Hyperion pattern, first introduced in 1888. It is monogrammed as shown. The bowl is elegantly pierced and retains a hint of gold wash. This piece is in extremely good condition.
