If you like truly unusual silver, this this spoon is for you!
This large, 9 1/2" long, English Sterling silver serving spoon was made in the Victorian era. It is fully hallmarked for London 1876-77. This spoon is so cool and has so many unique features. It appears to be cast. The front of the handle has, from the top, a fleur de lis, a shield, a 3-d woman, a flower, etc. the bowl is ruffled and has some pretty cool decoration and a touch of gold wash. The decoration of the bowl looks exotic, maybe Byzantine. The back of the spoon is also fancy.
Now back to this crazy woman on the handle. She is beautifully detailed and 3-d. I love all her curls, her collar and cap, and her lovely features. She appears to be ready to jump off the spoon, she is so realistic!
The shield above our lovely lady is not engraved and ready for your monogram.
This spoon is in extremely good condition. An amazing find for the serious collector!
